Late Kotoko Fan Pooley’s Family Alleges Wife Manipulated Obituary to Secure Benefits

Published:

A heated controversy has erupted following the tragic death of Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter, Pooley, as his family accuses his wife, Gifty, of lying about the number of children he had.

After Pooley was gruesomely murdered during a match against Nsoatreman FC, reports surfaced that he had six children.

In response, several pledges were made to support his family, including a commitment from the Asantehene to cover the education of all six children through his educational fund.

However, in a shocking twist, Pooley’s family has disowned four of the children, claiming they are not biologically his.

A relative revealed in an interview that Pooley only had two children with his first wife before later marrying Gifty.

According to the family, Gifty already had four children from a previous relationship with an Ewe man, who is still alive.

The family expressed their shock upon discovering that Gifty had allegedly changed the surnames of her children to Frimpong—Pooley’s real surname—on his obituary.

They believe this was a calculated move to ensure her children also benefited from any support given to Pooley’s family, despite having no direct ties to him.

This revelation has sparked intense debate, with some sympathizing with the late supporter’s family while others question whether Gifty’s actions were motivated by survival rather than deception.
