The Deputy Education Minister, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has launched a number of educational projects across Builsa South in the Upper East Region.
The projects, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), are expected to ease pressure on existing facilities while expanding access to quality education.
The over GH¢41 million projects, which include a modern office complex for the district education directorate in Fumbisi, new classroom blocks in several communities, and improved boarding facilities at Kanjarga Senior High School, are to improve infrastructure and learning conditions.
A headmaster’s bungalow is also part of the package, aimed at strengthening school leadership presence.
Project handover
The Builsa South MP handed over multiple sites for construction, marking the start of a major push to upgrade schools in the district.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to tackle long-standing challenges in the education sector, particularly overcrowded classrooms and inadequate infrastructure.
The projects are expected to create a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning while supporting better outcomes for students.
Beyond infrastructure, the MP has secured more than 400 monodesks for distribution to schools across the district.
This intervention is expected to further reduce congestion and improve classroom comfort.
The District Director of Education, Richard Akum-Nyemi, welcomed the initiative and highlighted ongoing efforts to improve educational standards in the area, including the consistent supply of desks to schools.
Local officials, including District Chief Executive (DCE) Anne Musah, contractors, party executives and other stakeholders, attended the site handover ceremonies.
