In a statement issued today, the Vice President expressed confidence that candidates will “give off their very best after years of effort, discipline and preparation.”

She encouraged all candidates to approach the examination “with confidence, honesty and determination.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang commended the Ghana Education Service, teachers, parents and all stakeholders for their dedicated efforts in preparing students for the nationwide exam, which begins Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

The BECE, administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), determines placement for final-year junior high school students into senior high schools and technical institutes through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

The examination begins today, May 4, 2026, and ends on May 11, 2026, with over 620,000 candidates sitting for it.
