Ghanaian rapper and music executive D-Black has shed light on the departure of singer Sefa from his record label, Black Avenue Muzik, after six years.
He revealed that the decision was primarily driven by business disagreements, which made it difficult for them to continue working together.
D-Black explained that he and Sefa had differing views on certain business deals, leading to a professional impasse.
After recognising that their visions no longer aligned, Sefa made the decision to leave the label. Rather than addressing the matter publicly at the time, D-Black chose to keep it private, as he considered it a personal issue between them.
He also pointed out that this was not the first time such a situation had occurred within his label. In 2019, another former signee, Wisa Greid, parted ways with Black Avenue Muzik due to unmet project expectations.
This, he suggested, was part of the reality of the music business, where artists and labels may eventually grow apart due to differing priorities and goals.
Despite their separation, D-Black expressed his admiration for Sefa’s talent and career growth.
He acknowledged the hard work she had put into her craft over the years and commended her for making a name for herself in the industry. He remains optimistic about her future, believing she has the potential to achieve even greater success.
Sefa, who gained recognition for her unique style and hit songs, has continued to thrive in the music scene since leaving the label. Her departure from Black Avenue Muzik has sparked conversations about the complexities of artist-label relationships and the challenges that often arise behind the scenes in the entertainment industry.
