Nigerian music star Davido has taken his baby mama, Sophia Momodu, to court, seeking custody of their daughter Imade. The move marks a new chapter in the pair’s contentious relationship.
According to court documents, Davido filed an originating motion at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024, requesting joint custody of Imade. The singer, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, claims he has been a responsible father, providing for Imade’s education, rent, and other needs.
Davido alleges that Momodu has made unreasonable demands, including a request for $19,600 annually and $800 monthly for a nanny. He also claims to have purchased a Range Rover SUV and a Highlander SUV for Momodu and Imade’s use.
The singer’s lawyers, Dr. Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others, are seeking the court’s intervention to grant Davido joint custody of Imade. The case has sparked interest in the Nigerian entertainment industry, with fans and colleagues watching the developments closely.
This development comes after a history of public disputes between Davido and Momodu over their daughter’s care and support.
Davido is alleged to have about 5 baby mamas apart from his wife.
They are Ayotomide, Sophia Mamodu, Amanda, Larissa Yasmin Lorenco and Anita Brown.
Davido has six children; three boys (one of whom is now deceased), and three girls. The singer confirmed his marriage to his partner Chioma Rowland in March 2023.
