Ghanaian songstress, Sista Afia, took to Facebook to express her disappointment and frustration after failing to secure a single nomination at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
Known for hits like “Asuoden” and “Maradona” featuring DopeNation, Sista Afia shared her sentiments online, questioning if she had offended someone at the awards ceremony.
She particularly highlighted the absence of her song “Asuoden” from the list of nominees, despite its popularity in 2021. Sista Afia lamented what she perceived as injustice in the nomination process, suggesting that some artists may not even need to file for nominations to be considered.
In her post, she revealed the pain of being overlooked despite her relentless efforts and dedication to her craft. The “Weather” hitmaker confessed to keeping silent for a long time out of fear of offending anyone, but the disappointment of not receiving any recognition for her hard work became too much to bear.
The nominees for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards were announced on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre. However, to Sista Afia’s dismay, her name was notably absent from the list, leaving her feeling undervalued and overlooked by the industry she has tirelessly contributed to.

Mr-Wumpini – You are doing well, awards are possibly a recognition of your effort but don’t allow them define you… They’re human institutions and subjectivity is always put to play…
Edem Sparkles Afun Philip – Dear Sista Afia, you’re doing incredibly well. All I see in you is a rare gem. You don’t have a contender. The street has given you thumbs up for all the bangers you keep dropping. Awards means nothing in Ghana music industry. Follow the steps of Shatta Wale. Keep doing good music and forget abt Ghana Music Awards. On this note, you have just earned a life time Achievement Award from the street of good music lovers.
