RCCG Pastor Reportedly Flees With Mission Fund, Remarries in U.S.

A senior figure within the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Folu Adeboye, has shared details of an incident involving a former pastor of the church who allegedly fled with $8,000 meant for missionary expansion. According to her, the individual also abandoned his spouse and later remarried in the United States.

The account was shared during a men’s event hosted by the church and has since gained public attention following the circulation of a video clip online.

The pastor in question, reportedly from Ekiti State, had been posted to RCCG’s parish in Cape Town, South Africa. Pastor Folu, wife of General Overseer Pastor E.A. Adeboye, narrated that during a visit to the area, she was invited to minister at the local branch. Upon arrival, she discovered that services were being held inside a restaurant rather than a permanent church structure.

During her sermon, she said a woman entered the space and began taking away chairs—an interruption that made it clear the venue was only rented and not owned by the church.

In response to the situation, she noted that support of $8,000 was mobilized to assist the parish in acquiring a more stable location for worship. The pastor then proposed using the funds to buy a used vehicle, which he claimed would be leased to a tourism company. According to him, the returns from that venture would later fund the church’s property purchase. Pastor E.A. Adeboye reportedly approved the suggestion after reviewing the plan.

However, the pastor is alleged to have failed to carry out the project as promised. Instead, he is said to have disappeared from South Africa, leaving behind his wife, and relocated to the United States, where he went on to marry someone else.

The church has not publicly disclosed the name of the individual involved, nor have there been formal announcements regarding steps to recover the funds.
