Two invigilators in Jinijini, Bono Region, were arrested on July 8, 2024, for allegedly sharing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) questions on WhatsApp.

According to the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the invigilators were found with phones containing screenshots of the ongoing exam paper, which they had posted on WhatsApp platforms.

WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, confirmed that the invigilators were handed over to the police and their phones seized as evidence.

This incident highlights the council’s commitment to ensuring exam integrity and punishing those who compromise it.

With over 500,000 students, including both school and private candidates, set to take the BECE from July 8, 2024, at 2,123 centers nationwide, WAEC is committed to ensuring a fair and secure examination process.

Meanwhile, three teachers in Anwiankwanta, Ashanti Region, were also arrested on July 8, 2024, for allegedly possessing answer keys to the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) on their phones.
