A man who allegedly posed as a police officer to extort money from unsuspecting civilians in Kasoa has been arrested by the police.
A video circulating on social media shows the fake police officer being escorted by genuine police officers and other individuals, purportedly to the police station.
According to reports, the suspect had been impersonating a police officer and using this guise to demand money from members of the public.
His reign of terror came to an end when police apprehended him, bringing an end to his deceitful activities.
One victim took to social media to share their personal experience, saying “Eiiii. This man took 50 cedis from me last week right under the overhead bridge because I argued with him. He told me he would take me to the station if I don’t give him the money.”
Others expressed frustration and amusement at the frequent news of scandals and controversies emerging from Kasoa. “Herh; That Kasoa there wey I always dey hear dema matter, ebi country on its own anaa?” joked one user, while another quipped, “Isn’t it time for Kasoa to gain independence from Ghana???”
Some users expressed exasperation, saying “Every week.. Kasoa is in the news… Eii wey city that?” and “Kasoa is an interesting place. Everyday is a new wahala”. Others seemed resigned to the situation, commenting “The country hot so everybro dey use mind oh” and “Everyone is finding an illegal way to make a living in Ghana”.
Despite the mixed reactions, the arrest of the fake police officer has been met with relief and gratitude from the community, who had been living in fear of his extortion attempts.
As the investigation continues, more details are expected to emerge about the suspect’s motives and the extent of his criminal activities.
