Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, has finally addressed the persistent rumors suggesting that she is pregnant by American rapper Future.
The speculation arose late last year following their successful collaboration on the song “Wait For U.”
At that time, Tems had seemingly denied the rumors through a social media post, where she expressed her frustration by writing, “In conclusion, you people are all mad!!!” along with a photo of herself, which many took as her response to the baseless claims.
Recently, Tems tackled the issue again during an interview on “The Breakfast Club,” a popular radio show.
The award-winning artist humorously questioned why she wasn’t being linked to other artists like Wizkid or Drake, highlighting the absurdity of the rumors.
In her opinion, the rumors about Future gained traction not because of their collaboration, but due to his public reputation as someone with multiple children and a history of high-profile relationships.
Tems pointed out that the focus on Future was likely driven by the perception that he fits the stereotype of a “ladies’ man,” which made the gossip more sensational for the public.
She noted that the rumors would have likely been the same if she had been linked to someone else famous, but Future’s past made the speculation particularly juicy for those spreading it.
Through her light-hearted take on the situation, Tems brushed aside the rumors and emphasised that she is focusing on her music career.
The conversation also shed light on the pressures that come with fame, where baseless gossip can spread quickly, often without any regard for the truth.
Tems’ success has been on the rise, and despite the occasional rumor, she continues to make waves in the global music scene. With her undeniable talent, she is showing that her artistry speaks louder than the rumors surrounding her personal life.
“People just take the most controversial things. Because I was thinking like, why am I pregnant for Future? Why Future? Because that’s the craziest. Why not Wizkid? Why not Drake? Why not somebody else? If it was Drake, it would be the same thing but the reason why it is Future is because of his reputation. He has about five kids. And has a reputation of being a ladies’ man.”
