(Video) Scammers caught extorting money from market women over Homowo clean-up exercise

Nii Sempe and leaders of the Ga Traditional Council caught and punished two individuals who had been extorting money from market women in Accra. The scammers had been claiming that the money was for contributions towards the Homowo Clean-up exercise, scheduled for tomorrow.

The two individuals, whose names have not been disclosed, had been targeting vulnerable market women, deceiving them into parting with their hard-earned cash.

However, their scheme was busted earlier today when they were caught by Nii Sempe and the Ga Traditional Council leaders.

As punishment, the scammers were made to carry concrete blocks in a public display of accountability.

In a video shared on social media, the two individuals can be seen carrying one concrete block each, a visible sign of their punishment.

The incident serves as a warning to others who may be engaging in similar fraudulent activities. The market women, who were victims of the scam, have been advised to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Ga Traditional Council has also urged the public to be cautious and not fall prey to such scams.

The Homowo Clean-up exercise is a community event aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene in the city. It is unfortunate that some individuals would seek to take advantage of this initiative for personal gain.
