Popular media personality and host of For The Records, Okatakyie Afrifa, has stirred fresh controversy with bold claims about President John Dramani Mahama’s post-election conduct.
During the April 14th edition of his YouTube show, Afrifa alleged that several pastors who openly supported Mahama during the 2024 presidential race are now being ignored.
According to him, the newly sworn-in president has reportedly stopped taking their calls since assuming office.
Afrifa didn’t hold back as he expressed his disappointment, stating that this behavior reflects a broader pattern among Ghanaian politicians.
In his view, it’s common for political leaders to form temporary alliances with influential figures like pastors and traditional leaders to boost their chances at the polls—only to discard those same allies once power is secured.
He advised the affected religious leaders not to feel betrayed, suggesting they should have expected such an outcome. “This is how Ghanaian politics works,” he remarked, implying that these tactics are part of a calculated political playbook.
So far, President Mahama has not issued a response to the allegations. None of the pastors believed to be involved have spoken publicly either.
The comments from Afrifa have ignited mixed reactions online. While some citizens say his accusations reflect the reality of political opportunism in Ghana, others are reserving judgment, hoping for clarity from the presidency or the clergy themselves.
Whether or not the claims hold water, they’ve certainly sparked a new debate about loyalty and accountability in the corridors of power.
