Tragedy struck the Father Hostel in Ayeduase, a residential hub for KNUST students, as a ravaging fire swept through the building, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
The inferno, which erupted in the dead of night, consumed at least nine rooms, rendering students homeless and bereft of their belongings.
Miraculously, no lives were lost in the blaze, thanks to the swift response of the KNUST Fire Department.
However, the material losses were significant, with students losing vital possessions and academic resources.
As the affected students come to terms with their loss, the SRC has stepped in to provide temporary accommodations and support.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and emergency preparedness in residential buildings.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but one thing is clear – the academic community must rally together to support those affected and work towards preventing such disasters in the future.
As students pick up the pieces, they remain grateful for the narrow escape and determined to rebuild and recover.
